Why Is mTLS Needed?

mTLS is an important component of a zero trust architecture.

One of the principles of zero trust networking is to assume that there is an attacker that has infiltrated your network.

To limit the damage caused by an intrusion it is essential to prevent the attacker from pivoting to other resources on the network.

Thanks to mTLS connections, this limits reconnaissance as well as provide authenticity of communications so that an intruder cannot eavesdrop, alter messages, impersonate resources, or otherwise intercept your messages on ones network.
